Chuck - as we have joint champions, either only one does the simul or both do it. If both, allowing each to play 1/2 of the players is to cut their individual burden in half, certainly different if only one champion plays all the opponents in the room. Here's an idea - why not ask the co-champions to play a consultation game, with each one making an alternative move. So one champion would circle the room making a move and then the other co-champion would make the next move circling the room.
It would be novel, intriguing and a lot of fun.

I'm an unrated player that would like to try playing in a tournament, when does the next one start?

I want to have my kids take part in chess games/simple to start with tournaments. Where can I do it?

Hi all,
I was a member there in 1986 and 1987. It has been really nice to take a look at the pictures, great memories. It seems only Cyrus Lakdawala is still there. Greetings to Cyrus, he might still remember me, I took a lesson from him.
Now I play in San Sebastian, Spain, at another great chess club, http://www.grosxake.com/
I have great memories of the SDCC, but I have forgoten most of the names of people at the time. Jim Maki, Todd, Roger Padiernos and many more. And this old man who taught us language: shpiel palooka, patzer...

My children are interested in playing chess with other children their age, Would it be ok to visit on a Friday and get a feel for the club? I know there are fees involved, but I would like to see how the boys fit in and interact with everyone else. Thanks.

My 7 year old son wants to play. He is pretty good for that age. Is it for kids still every Friday 6-9pm?

Our club has now celebrated the 500th Gambito. It is obvious to all involved that we could not have done it without the efforts of Chuck Ensey, his sponsorship, and most importantly the undying courtesy and respect that he shows to all players at all times.

Hi Chuck,

I got a kick from your captions for round four of the Markowski. Very clever. I think it really adds a much needed shot of personality into our matchups.
That's what the chess column writers do. They spice up what could be a dry & ordinary subject.

Thank you and keep up the good work.

I just wanted to say that San Diego Chess Club is the best chess club in America. I didn't know how to play when I started 4 years ago but everyone was so helpful, now I am rated 1400. Thanks everyone for all the time you donate. If you like Chess, this is the place to come and become a Master!

ThumbnailWith the sun and fresh air, there is nothing like an impromptu game of pickup basketball at the San Diego Chess Club. Thee were scenes taken at the Super Gambito # 411 while waiting for the second round pairings to be posted. Lots of fun for all!
